From the start, Allison made it known that my birth and how I wanted it to be was her priority. Since Covid-19 got worse before it got better she was incredibly flexible with all the changes since I had decided to give birth at the hospital. One of my favorite things about her was her emphasis on making choices for myself and not letting the hospital (or anyone really) make those decisions. I never thought I’d have so much control over my birth.

Allison was the BEST support person during pushing, contractions, and all the emotions in between. I was induced and that was NOT in my plan, but Allison adjusted my birth plan well to fit the induction. Honestly she was so good at being supportive and helping me cope with contractions that by the time I wanted pain meds, it was too late! I gave birth naturally and didn’t tear!

Allison is so knowledgeable, empowering, and kind. Having her as my doula was the best decision I made. As my friend it was a no brainer, but I am confident that anyone she supports will feel the same way. I never felt pressured or judged on any decision I made, and she frequently asked about my comfort level and what I thought was best for my baby and I. It definitely felt like she had been doing this for years! I’d recommend her every time!” -Shaquita B.

I always knew I wouldn't want a ton of people in the room for my labor/delivery, but if someone "extra" was going to be around it was going to be a person who brings peace with them. Allison does just that, so I would recommend her as a doula to anyone. She was an important part of our labor team!

During pregnancy,

Allison offered suggestions for things we could do to help alleviate pain and discomfort. She always had ways that Ricky could be involved!

The meetings we had to discuss our birth plan and questions/concerns were really helpful to get us thinking and talking through so many important things, before we got to the hospital!

During labor/delivery, we ended up having to use interventions that weren't a part of our plan, but because of meeting with Allison we had talked about all of them before and were able to make informed decisions when the time came.

She continued to encourage and support both Ricky and I through well over 24 hours of labor. It was nice for me to know there was someone checking in with Ricky, while my mind and body were a little preoccupied, and Ricky would say it was incredibly helpful to have someone offer help and suggestions to coach him in coaching me.

I could not recommend more highly someone to support people through the crazy adventure that is pregnancy and childbirth!”

Allison was such an incredible support for both my husband and I during labor and delivery. She kept a calm and peaceful environment and had so many great ideas to help with pain management. One of the things I appreciated so much was her willingness to support me in whatever birth plan I envisioned. We chose to labor at home and then go to the hospital for the delivery. She helped me labor at home and applied just the right amount of counter pressure to alleviate my back labor. When it was time to go to the hospital for the delivery, she remained completely calm and confident. During our hospital stay she was my advocate and emotional support. She was very respectful and worked well with the nurses and doctor. We couldn’t have done it without her!”
